Challenge: From the Moon to Mars

[January 2019]
My submission for the Artstation / Adobe / NASA challenge "From the Moon to Mars: Celebrating Apollo’s 50th Anniversary"
You can see the full submission blog posts here: https://www.artstation.com/contests/adobe-dimension/challenges/59/submissions/39531
The space exploration vehicle, astronaut and martian surface meteorite are from the Adobe Stock Assets as the challenge rules intended. All other models and paintover are done by me.

What the image is about: NASA teams have successfully landed on Mars and use the lava tubes as shelter from the extreme surface conditions. One day, as they had advanced further into the tunnels, an astronaut discovers actual lifeforms similar to fungi cells. Excited and overwhelmed by the beauty of this planet, he advances further and further. What will he find at the end of the tube?
